Pursuit of Mastery

Pursuit of Mastery is the quest-book group for weapon types. Each of its twelve chapters is a tree of weapons from the first wooden or iron version to the end-game uniques, and each quest asks for one weapon. The trees double as an upgrade guide: later weapons depend on the earlier weapons of the same type. Two chapters, Magic Academy and Archery Armory, have real rewards; the ten melee chapters are checklists with almost none.

The melee chapters’ first quests have no requirements, so they can be followed from the first day.

A few weapons need quests from other chapters:

  • Zweiender (Path of the Samurai) needs Blessing of Mortusest, the last quest of Act V.
  • Glove (Bulwark and Brawl) needs Frozen Fist and the Prologue’s Epic Combat.
  • Herrscher (Bladesworn Battallion) needs the Neptunium Sword, Oath, Dread Thrall’s Sword and Gesetz from Bulwark and Brawl. Its quest says the two are counterparts.

Magic Academy#

Magic Academy (“Back To School”) covers Iron’s Spellbooks spellcasting: the Inscription Table, the Scroll Forge (whose quest gives school ingredients such as a Blaze Rod and a Blood Vial), the Arcane Anvil, and dozens of spellbooks and staves, including the three Dragon Priest staves and the Pyrium Staff. Armor, runes and curios for mages are in Magic Equipment.

A Wizard's First Spell (Magic Academy)

Magic is very imporant for a wizard and still very helpful for those that only dabble in magic. Magic is great for damaging or utility spell such as teleport.

Archery Armory#

Archery Armory (“Way too many bows!”, “A questline for true archers, expanding your arsenal with 30+ legendary bows!”) starts with a Wooden Bow and covers the Too Many Bows bows, archery curios such as the Sharpshot Ring and Dead Eyes Pendant, and boss bows like the Cursed Bow and Wrath of the Desert from Maledictus.
