Wither Skeleton
The Wither Skeleton is the tall, sword-wielding skeleton of Nether fortresses. In Soulrend it matters for two reasons: its skulls summon the Wither in Act III, and it has a 10% chance to drop End Remastered’s Wither Eye, one of the twelve eyes that open the End. The Hunter's Journal also has a Wither Skeleton ladder that pays in skulls.
Spawning#
- Nether fortresses, as in vanilla Minecraft.
- The Graveyard places some in its Overworld structures (medium graveyards and crypts), and keeps its Wither Skeleton spawner.
- The Past: every Wither Skeleton that spawns there becomes the Decaying King.
Stats#
The Wither Skeleton has no level setting, so its level matches the Soulrend level of the nearest player (see Mob Levels). Most of its damage comes from its stone sword.

Awakened Mobs gives each Wither Skeleton a 5% chance to spawn as a runner, 20% faster.

Apothic variants#
Apotheosis bosses spawn naturally in the Nether: each spawn has a 2.5% chance to become one, and the Wither Skeleton is the most likely candidate there (weight 100). Soulrend’s Apothic Wither Skeletons are Rare or Epic, wear Nether gear with random affixes and have Fire Resistance. On top of the scaled stats:
