Why can't I dodge or block, and why do my attacks look vanilla?

Epic Fight is probably in mining mode, where attacks are vanilla and dodging and guarding are off. Switch to battle mode with the Toggle Battle/Mining Mode key. Soulrend leaves it unbound, so set it in Controls first.
